What is a true "appraised value"?

These are all great questions that only someone in the "auto industry" can give you a straight answer on. Used Vehicles represent a unique class of assets. Their true market values are determined in the remarketing arena. Most people believe Kelly Blue Book is that source. The fact is, they are not. They will tell you they are only a "guide". True values are not based on a "guide", they are based on factual information.

The "actual cash value" (ACV) of a trade-in, is the value for which the vehicle would currently bring at auction. Since the majority of all trade-ins wind up at the auction, or sold through a wholesaler, this is what your trade-in is based upon.  At the bottom of the page there is a link that will take you to view the market report on your vehicle.

Enter the first ten digits of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and press enter. This will display the Year, Make, Model, and Style. Enter the region of the United States in which you live. The auction averages are based upon average mileage of the vehicle. Above (green) for low mileage, Average (white) for average mileage, and below (yellow) for high mileage. It also shows you the total sold at auction for the week of your search.

These are "actual dollar amounts" that your vehicle would bring at auction. This is the "actual value" of your trade. Of course there are other factors that come into play, such as condition, however this is the strongest tool used to appraise a trade-in.
